Day 1: Saturday 1 April, 2017
Home – Adelaide

Flights will be arranged to arrive in Adelaide, “City of Churches,” in the afternoon, where you will be transferred to our central Adelaide hotel for the next 2 nights. You will have the afternoon at leisure to relax before enjoying our first meal together.

Day 2: Sunday 2 April, 2017
Worship & Adelaide Sightseeing

After breakfast we will attend Morning Worship at one of Adelaide’s many churches. After this we will cruise along the Torrens River to Adelaide Zoo, Australia’s second oldest zoo. The zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals and 250 species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles and fish which are exhibited over eight hectares of magnificent botanic surroundings. Lunch today is at your own choice and cost.

Day 3: Monday 3 April, 2017
Adelaide – Mannum – Embarkation

Enjoy Central Adelaide with a morning at leisure after which we will depart for Murray Bridge and then onto Mannum to embark on the Captain Cook Cruises PS Murray Princess. Mid-afternoon the PS Murray Princess departs historic Mannum, the birthplace of the Murray River trade and communication, and heads upriver while you enjoy pre-dinner drinks and a Welcome Dinner. As we cruise under floodlight to our overnight mooring at Caurnamont, you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. Watch for kangaroos, hairy-nosed wombats, tortoises, egrets and many other species. Our on-board entertainer
provides music for the night owls.

Day 4: Tuesday 4 April, 2017

Daybreak and time for the keen photographers to be out to capture the special light and the morning movement of wildlife. Prolific birdlife includes pelicans, wrens and black swans. Enjoy a leisurely morning and lunch cruising upriver to Blanchetown through one of 13 locks which maintain the flow and levels of water. This afternoon we moor near Salters Station for our overnight anchorage. As the last rays of the sun fade, we join a guided tour of Burk
Salter Wines on the banks of the river and enjoy wine tasting at the cellar door. After dinner, join us for all the fun and excitement, and participate in our “Murray River Cup”.

Day 5: Wednesday 5 April, 2017

After breakfast we cruise downriver to picturesque Swan Reach, a town which was first settled in the 1850s. Originally the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area. it is now home to native flower and fruit growers. The original Swan Reach homestead is now the Swan Reach Hotel where you can enjoy an ale or cappuccino overlooking the Murray River (additional cost). Join the guided walking tour and visit the Swan Reach Museum – a must for every visitor.

Cruise downriver after lunch and take in the tranquility as the landscape slides by or enjoy a lifestyle and info-cruising presentation. When we arrive at Sunnydale, it’s all ashore for the Woolshed Show as we recreate typical Australian woolshed history. Later we visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals are cared for. And then of course, there is the great Aussie Barbecue – cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River. An optional nocturnal tour by tractor and cart is available after dinner (additional cost).

Day 6: Thursday 6 April, 2017

After breakfast, we slowly cruise downriver past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. We reach Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve, one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, for a step back in time – tens of thousands of years – for a guided boardwalk tour to view ancient rock carvings and to learn about Aboriginal history in the area. We return to the vessel to cruise downriver to Younghusband. Along the way, adventure seekers can also take an optional speed boat ride. Tonight the Captain and his
officers host a spectacular Farewell Captain’s Buffet Dinner. Dress up and dance, if you wish.

Day 7: Friday 7 April, 2017
Mannum – Adelaide

Disembarking is easily done, then we head to Hahndorf, a charming village of German heritage in the Adelaide hills, and the inspiration for some of Australia’s famous artists.
Choose your own lunch today (own cost) from one of Hahndorf’s many little cafés and tearooms. On our return to Adelaide we will stop at the seaside town of Glenelg where you can walk along the beach. Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner together.

Day 8: Saturday 8 April, 2017
Adelaide – Home

Today we’ll transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
